Andre Brasilier (1929-2004)
André Brasilier, whose parents were also painters, was born in 1929 in Saumur, France.. At age 23, he received the Grand Prix de Rome. At this time he entered the Paris artistic life, hosting many exhibitions in France as well as abroad. His first exhibition in 1959 was entitled “Autour de la musique”.
As explained by Bernard de Montgolfier, although Brasilier paints from reality, he is not a realistic painter. "We could say that Brasilier has a very personal way of being non figurative inside figuration".
Andre Brasilier has enjoyed many solo exhibitions around the world in cities such as New York, Paris, Tokyo, Vancouver, Stuttgart and Geneva. André Brasilier's son, Alexis, opened The Bac Saint-Germain Gallery. This offers a permanent exhibition place for Brasilier's work and allows for a broad understanding of the artist's original artistic approach.
