Charles Cundall (1890-1971) Cundall was born in Stretford, Lancashire, England. He began designing pottery and stained glass for Pilkington's Pottery Company. He studied at the Manchester School of Art, obtaining a scholarship to the Royal College of Art. His studies were interrupted by the First World War when he enlisted to join the Army from 1914 to 1917. He returned to the RCA and studied then in Paris. He visited Italy, Sweden, Russia and Spain.
