Deng Wushu (b.1968) Wushu was born in Sichuan Province, China in 1968. Under the influence of his father, an avid oil painter, Deng became interested in art and painting from an early age. In 1983, the year he was accepted for high school into the renowned Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, his painting transformed from a hobby into a refined skill and serious study. Following his graduation in 1987, Deng continued his education in the same institution, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Oil Painting in 1991. He now works as a professional oil painter in Beijing. Deng is a trendsetter among Chinese artists, as he depicts international themes that are not necessarily relevant within only a Chinese perspective, but can also reach an international audience. His largely uplifting themes are capable of instilling a sense of hope and inspiration in audiences from any country. The majority of Deng's works depict children's interaction with nature, and children's perspectives of our world. These works serve as a reminder to an international audience that we should not give up on the modern world for its shortcomings and corruption but instead take action towards improvement.
